International accreditations
EQUIS
EQUIS (the European Quality Improvement System) is recognised worldwide as one of the leading accreditation systems for business schools. To date, only 226 schools worldwide have received EQUIS accreditation. This makes us one of the best and highest quality business schools in the world.
EQUIS accreditation was the first of three major international accreditations received by the School of Economics and Business in 2006. The EQUIS accreditation not only recognises the quality of the work and achievements to date, but also confirms UL SEB's ambition and commitment to continuous improvement and adaptation to modern standards.
AACSB
The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) accredits more than 1,000 business schools worldwide. AACSB accreditation is based on a commitment to high quality and continuous progress in business education.
UL SEB was first accredited by the AACSB in 2010. In 2025, we were re-accredited for a period of six years. AACSB accreditation also gives our top students the opportunity to join the prestigious Beta Gamma Sigma network.
AMBA
Accreditation by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) is the highest standard of achievement in postgraduate business education and is only awarded to the best postgraduate programmes in management. In 2016, the School of Economics and Business received AMBA accreditation for the LJUBLJANA MBA programme for the first time. AMBA accreditation is only awarded to the top two percent of business schools on five continents, which confirms the quality and international reputation of both UL SEB and the LJUBLJANA MBA programme.
Graduates of the LJUBLJANA MBA programme emphasise the strong impact of the programme on their professional careers. No less than 92% of graduates report faster promotion, confirming that the programme had a significant impact on their professional growth and career development.
National accreditation
NAKVIS
Study programmes at all three levels of study are accredited by the National Agency for Quality in Higher Education (NAKVIS). The main task of NAKVIS is to determine whether in addition to the legal provisions, higher education institutions fulfil the criteria for accreditation or the quality standards laid down therein and other regulations of NAKVIS in addition to the legal requirements.

BSIS - Business School Impact System
The Business School Impact System (BSIS) helps schools identify key strengths and opportunities for development and impact in their local environment. The BSIS process is available to EFMD members worldwide through a co-operation agreement between the EFMD Global Network and FNEGA.
The University of Ljubljana School of Economics and Business has been BSIS-certified since 2018 and has been measuring its impact on Slovenia every three years since then.
UNTWO TedQual
UNWTO TedQual is a certification of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), which is carried out by its Themis Foundation. The criteria relate to the quality, effectiveness and relevance of tourism studies from the perspective of the teaching process, students and external partners in the public and private sectors.
In 2002, we were awarded the first UNWTO TedQual certificate for first and second cycle tourism programmes. With the renewed award of the UNWTO TedQual certificate in 2023, we have once again been recognised as a school of the highest quality in the field of tourism programme delivery.
CFA Institute
The CFA Institute is a global association of financial professionals that sets quality standards for excellence in business and awards the CFA designation, the gold standard in the industry.
In 2021, UL SEB joined the CFA Institute's University Partnership Programme with the Bank and Financial Management postgraduate programme. The Bank and Financial Management programme is recognised for incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Institute's Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBL) and highlighting the CFA Institute's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practise as part of the programme. The programme provides students with a solid foundation for achieving the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, which is the most respected and recognised designation in the field of financial analysis and asset management today.
National certificates
Athlete-Friendly Education
In 2019, the School of Economics and Business was one of the first schools in Slovenia to receive the "Athlete-Friendly Education" certificate awarded by the Slovenian Olympic Committee. UL SEB offers students with athlete status the opportunity to adapt their studies and build a dual career that supports their athletic and academic ambitions and helps them transition to a new career after their athletic career.
At the beginning of 2024, the Slovenian Olympic Committee extended the school's "Athlete Friendly Education" certificate until the end of the 2024/2025 academic year.
EcoSchool and Green Flag
EcoSchool is an international programme and the largest network of educational institutions promoting environmental content and sustainable development. It is the only internationally recognised programme of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
The School of Economics and Business has been a Green Flag holder since 2017 and works to raise awareness of sustainable development. In doing so, it builds on the efforts of Ecoteam, which has been campaigning for environmentally friendly change at UL SEB since 2009. The Eco-Committee manages the school's environmental audit, implements the action plan and promotes the EcoSchool programme in the community.
