About the European Documentation Centre
The European Documentation Centre (EDC) has been involved in the MRIC since 2009. It is responsible for the international exchange of information and materials with other members of the pan-European EDC network.
The EDC supports research in the field of European integration and EU policies as a contractual communication partner of the European Commission and an active member of the pan-European information network Europe Direct.
It is the custodian of a database of official EU publications, statistics, studies, and provides support when searching for legislation or information sources from the EU institutions' databases.
This facility provides users
- access to and assistance in using all available information resources;
- preparation and dissemination of information about the European Union, its policies, documents, and activities;
- preparation of thematic retrospective queries from Slovenian and international databases;
- an introduction to independent use of information resources;
- preparation and implementation of courses in the field of use of information resources; and
- organisation and implementation of lectures and seminars on the topic of European integration.
The EDC reference database contains
- the founding treaties of the European Communities;
- European Union law, published in the Official Journal of the European Union, series L and C (complete set from 1952);
- preparatory documents of the EU institutions involved in legislative procedures (Commission, Parliament, Council of Ministers, Economic and Social Committee, Committee of the Regions, etc.);
- case law of the Court of Justice of the EU;
- publications and databases of EUROSTAT, the Statistical Office of the European Communities;
- monographs, serial publications, and non-book material on European Union policies published by the EU institutions and accredited agencies.
