School of Economics and Business Reaffirms Its Impact by Receiving the Business School Impact System (BSIS) Certificate

The University of Ljubljana School of Economics and Business has successfully completed its reassessment through the EFMD’s Business School Impact System (BSIS), led by Mr. François Bonvalet, Director of BSIS.
The initial assessment took place in 2018, with evaluations occurring in prescribed three-year cycles. During this latest two-day assessment process in November 2024, visiting experts evaluated the school’s impact on Slovenia. The assessors met with over 50 stakeholders, including faculty members, professional staff, students, external lecturers, and colleagues from the Centre of Business Excellence, as well as more than 20 representatives from the business sector and public institutions.
The BSIS experts concluded that the school has a significant educational, intellectual, and social impact on both its immediate and broader environment. They highlighted the school’s strong influence on business development and the regional ecosystem. Additionally, they emphasized the school’s powerful alumni network, noting that 90 of its alumni hold leadership positions in companies with over 500 employees and that 25 alumni have been involved in mergers and acquisitions in Slovenia since 2022.
The report also underscores several key features of UL SEB, including its strategic focus on global and regional sustainability, high employability rates, and strong employer satisfaction. The school’s research impact is also recognized at both regional and global levels, with over 1,200 media mentions in 2023. Furthermore, the experts acknowledged the school’s vital role in business education in Slovenia.
The BSIS report concludes that UL SEB is the top business school in Slovenia, known for its ability to combine high academic standards with practical applications. The school is aware of its influence and significance in the country, as it educates highly qualified students and provides them with expert knowledge from its academic staff. The BSIS process and recommendations help the school identify measures to improve quality and view its role from a broader perspective.
As an interesting note, the three most frequently mentioned words in discussions about the School of Economics and Business were: ambition, impact, and innovation.
