UL SEB joins the AGENTS project to promote slow tourism

UL SEB is proud to announce its participation in the AGENTS project, a three-year Erasmus+ project dedicated to promoting slow tourism as a sustainable alternative to mass tourism. The project is co-funded by the European Union and is led by Laurea University of Applied Sciences from Finland. Other esteemed partners include CETT Barcelona School of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy, Tallinn University of Technology, Kiel University of Applied Sciences, and Klaipėda University.
The AGENTS project addresses the challenges posed by mass tourism and the fast tourism model, which often lead to overcrowded destinations, pressure on local infrastructure, and negative socio-cultural impacts. The project will:
- Conduct research on attitudes and values related to sustainable and slow tourism.
- Develop a Massive Open Online Course (5 ECTS) and a 20 ECTS study programme on slow tourism.
- Organise two study tours where students will work with local businesses to develop innovative slow tourism products.
- Establish an online learning community to facilitate knowledge exchange and collaboration.
- Publish a guidebook and video series to promote the adoption of slow tourism principles.
The project aims to have a lasting educational impact, with a target of 600 ECTS credits generated through Learning Tours and 500 ECTS credits from the MOOC pilot course.
At the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana, the project team consists of Daša Farčnik, Iana Bilynets, Klavdija Besednjak, and Kir Kuščer. The team will contribute to research, curriculum development, and student engagement in slow tourism innovation. SEB LU will also work closely with local stakeholders to explore opportunities for integrating slow tourism principles into business practices.
By participating in the AGENTS project, UL SEB strengthens its commitment to sustainable tourism education and contributes to shaping a more responsible and value-driven tourism industry.
