Modes of study
Full-time study
Full-time study programmes are held at UL SEB in accordance with the academic calendar.
The academic year begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. It is divided into the winter semester (October to January) and the summer semester (February to June). Lectures take place from October 1 to mid-January. The four-week period after the end of the lecture period is the winter examination period. Lectures in the summer semester begin in mid-February and end at the beginning of June. The summer examination period follows the end of the lecture period of the summer semester. Students may also take exams in the autumn examination period, which lasts from the end of August to mid-September.
Part-time study
Part-time study is conducted in a combined format (partially in classrooms, partially online) at the Faculty’s headquarters. It follows a specific schedule so that the courses are held consecutively. The teaching process for each course is conducted as a whole and concludes with a knowledge assessment, after which the next course begins. In the part-time program, classes are held in the afternoon and on Saturdays. The lectures of the first year of study extend over two academic years (five lectures in the first year, five lectures in the second year), the lectures of the second and third year of study over a total of three academic years (6–7 courses in one academic year).
The time allocated to each course depends on its scope and level of difficulty, taking into account all organized forms of direct teaching and the time students spend on self- study. For each course, as a rule, 30% of the hours allocated for full-time study are used for all forms of direct teaching with students. Self- study instructions are given to students by course instructors and their staff.
Students can change their mode of study once during their undergraduate study at the University of Ljubljana, School of Economics and Business.
