Incoming students

• More than 120 English-language courses at Bachelor and Master level.
• The updated course list for the next academic year is published in May.
• Exchange students must choose courses from their respective study level (Bachelor students - Bachelor courses; Master students - Master courses).
• Exceptions: Bachelor students in their 4th year of study with 180 ECTS credits can enrol in Master level courses.
• There are a limited number of places for the courses offered, which are allocated on a "first-come, first-served" basis during online enrolment.
• Bachelor courses are worth 6 ECTS and students can choose up to 30 ECTS per semester.
• Master courses are worth 7 ECTS and students can choose up to 35 ECTS per semester.

COURSE CATALOGUE for exchange students

To become an exchange student at UL SEB, there must be an exchange agreement between your home university and UL SEB. You must contact your international coordinators regarding the application and selection process for studying abroad. 

FOR PARTNER INSTITUTIONS:

• Nominations are submitted online via the SEB nomination platform. 
• Nomination instructions are sent to verified contacts of SEB partner institutions. 
• Only officially nominated students can be accepted. Free mover students are not eligible!
• It is important to inform us at the time of nomination if a student has a recognised learning disability. Each request will be considered on an individual basis and, where possible, appropriate arrangements will be made. 

Nomination deadlines:

• Winter semester/Full year: from 1 March to 1 May 
• Spring semester: from 1 September to 1 November  

FOR STUDENTS:

• Nominated students will receive further instructions via email.

Application deadlines:

• Winter semester/Full year: 15 May 
• Spring semester: 15 November 

Academic calendar 2024/2025

Students must prove their English language proficiency at B2 level (CEFR) by submitting one of the following documents:

• Transcript of Records listing courses taken in English;
• Language certificate with CEFR scale, issued by the home institution.
• TOEFL (79) or IELTS (6.0) certificate.

There are no specific academic requirements; we rely on our partner institutions to nominate suitable students.

• Examinations take place in person during the official examination period at the end of each semester.
• Students have two attempts to complete the course.
• Important: No pre-exams, online exams, or remote exams are offered.

• UL SEB is part of the Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) network and supports OLA.
• Students should check whether their home institution uses OLA. If not, the Learning Agreement in a PDF format will be accepted.

It is important to inform us in advance if a student has a recognised learning disability. Each request will be considered on an individual basis and, where possible, appropriate arrangements will be made. 

A disability is considered long-term if it has existed or is expected to exist for at least 6 months. Long-term disabilities can be:

• specific reading difficulties/dyslexia,
• ADHD, ADD and autism spectrum disorders,
• mental illness,
• visual and hearing impairments,
• mobility impairments,
• long-term medical conditions.

Exchange students receive additional support through our buddy system. SEBuddies are local Slovenian volunteers who help exchange students to organise the necessary documents, give tips on finding accommodation and get to know Ljubljana and Slovenia as well as Slovenian student life. Each exchange student will be contacted by their assigned buddy months before their arrival in Ljubljana.

We also organise orientation days, which are compulsory for all exchange students, as we introduce the UL SEB study system and provide all important information before the start of the semester. The orientation days are usually organised 1-2 days before the start of the semester.

• UL SEB does not provide or guarantee accommodation.
• The International Relations Office has an agreement with the student organization ESN Ljubljana University to help students find private accommodation in Ljubljana. ESN Ljubljana University has several contacts with trusted landlords and will help you find the best option for you.
• Accommodation is seasonal; students are advised to book temporary accommodation for the first week in Ljubljana.

Additional information about accommodation are sent to accepted exchange students by email. 

The biggest benefit of being a student in Ljubljana is the system of subsidised student meals (student coupons). The system is used in the majority of restaurants in Ljubljana and also in other cities in Slovenia.

Students receive as many subsidies per month as there are working days in the month and can can use up to two subsidies per day, with at least 4 hours between using one subsidy and the other.

The registration procedure is completed in person at the student meal office once the student is in Ljubljana. During the activation into the subsidised student nutrition (SŠP) system, the cell phone becomes the identification tool for using student meals, and the use of the service is free. If students do not want to use their mobile phones for identification, they can buy a contactless smartcard at the student meals office.

The Centre for Slovene as a Second and Foreign Language offers fee-paying intensive courses before and during the semester. Upon successful completion, students can receive 3 ECTS credits. Further information can be found on the Centre's website.
