English for Business and Economics 1 (UD)

Goals

The course aims to:
Build English terminology for business and economics;
Develop fluency and accuracy in spoken and written communication in business settings;
Enable effective use of study and reference literature in English.

Syllabus

The course covers relevant topics from the field of economics and business: education within the discipline, public speaking, employment, corporate structure and strategy, financial reporting, finance raising, international trade, marketing, building and maintaining relationships as well as communication in different business situations (formal and informal discussions, presentations, telephoning, and written communication). Special attention is given to business and economic terminology, written communication (e.g. personal and company profiles, emails, covering letters and CVs, business correspondence), and more complex grammatical structures as well as reading and listening comprehension.
