Academic Assembly
President: Full Professor Nevenka Hrovatin, PhD
The Academic Assembly consists of all higher education teachers, researchers and associates employed at the UL SEB.
Student representatives participate in the work of the Academic Assembly without the right to vote and are subject to an upper limit of one-fifth in accordance with the minimum number of student representatives in the Academic Assembly as determined by the University of Ljubljana Statutes. The absence of students from meetings of the Academic Assembly does not affect the quorum of the Academic Assembly, provided that the students are duly invited to the sessions and their absence is unexcused. Student representatives in the Academic Assembly are elected by the Student Council. The term of office of student representatives is one year. All representatives of professional, administrative, and technical staff employed by the UL SEB participate in the work of the Academic Assembly with the right to vote.
The meetings of the Academic Assembly are convened and chaired by the President of the Academic Assembly.
The President of the Academic Assembly is elected by the Academic Assembly, on the proposal of the Dean, from among higher education teachers—members of the Academic Assembly. The term of office of the President of the Academic Assembly is four years and they may be re-elected after the expiry of their term of office. The Academic Assembly meets at least once a year. The convocation of the Academic Assembly may be proposed by the Dean, the Senate, the Board of Trustees, or the Student Council.
The Academic Assembly has a quorum if more than half of the members who come from the ranks of UL SEB employees are present at the meeting.
The Academic Assembly shall adopt its reports and decisions by a majority vote of its staff members, whereby the votes of the members of the Academic Assembly shall have different weights according to the provisions on the composition of the Academic Assembly as laid down in the Statutes of the University of Ljubljana. Thus, the group of members of the Academic Assembly from the ranks of professional-administrative and technical staff shall have 25% of the total votes, and the proportion of the votes of higher education teachers, scientific staff and collaborators shall be 75% of the total votes.
The Academic Assembly elects members of the Senate, from the ranks of higher education teachers and/or scientific associates, by secret ballot, by virtue of the fact that only members of the Academic Assembly who come from the ranks of pedagogues, researchers and professional workers have the right to vote.
Professional, administrative, and technical assistance to the Academic Assembly is provided by the Secretariat.
