
Business Logistics (PD)
Goals
Students should understand the basic concepts in the field of business logistics, with an emphasis on practical topics, partly on business processes and management of supply chains. They need to understand potential risks and shocks in supply chains and the role of (information) technology in the supply chain. The course provides a critical review of logistical challenges for future professionals in the field of business logistics. Students get an entire overview of all activities in the field of logistics (from planning, purchasing, transport, warehousing, internal logistics, to supply and return). Getting to know the logistics prepares students for professional careers in the context of manufacturers, distributors, carriers and logistics providers. Course content provides the necessary theoretical/conceptual knowledge base and analytical methods for operative decision making processes.
Syllabus
Business Logistics is engaged in providing an efficient flow of materials, products and information within and between organizations in terms of logistics management. Logistics management deals with business activities that are directly related to the level of service for the end customer - inventory management, transportation, warehousing, site selection, packaging, management of incoming material and components, provide a level of service and managing complaints. At the same time it deals with the elements of inter-organizational supply systems.
