International Business and Management (UD)

Goals

- To gain knowledge in the field of transnational management.
- To recognize and understand the development and performance of different types of multinational enterprises.
- To gain knowledge about the motives of business to expand abroad and their internationalization strategies.
- To understand the geopolitical, cultural, ecological, technological, ethical and other dimensions of international business and management.
- To develop competences and skills of analysis, synthesis, problem solving, data collection, case study usage and team work.

Syllabus

1. Scanning the international environments and their impact on organizations. Ethics and sustainability in international business and management.
2. Short history of the multinational company (MNC) and multinational criteria. Different types and mindsets of MNCs: the Bartlett & Ghoshal transnational typology.
3. Headquarter-subsidiary, subsidiary-subsidiary and buyer-supplier relationships in MNCs, and organizational structures of MNCs
4. The role of culture in international management
5. International management amid (geo)political uncertainties
6. Developing strategy and achieving competitive advantage in international environment
7. The impact of technology, innovation and disruption in international management
8. Organizational management, leadership and human resources in international environment.
