Master of Arts
The Sustainable Tourism Management programme is a completely revamped and up-to-date master's programme in which you will acquire knowledge about business in tourism, sustainable development, and innovation in tourism.
Tourism is an extremely dynamic and highly promising industry. The focus of the programme is on practical experience, therefore all subjects in the field of tourism include numerous on-site visits, project work with companies, work on real-world case studies, and lectures by numerous domestic and foreign managers and experts. You will also acquire basic managerial skills necessary for successful work in tourism, as well as gain knowledge in the field of accounting and strategic management. Sustainable Tourism Management is also the only Slovenian programme that has TedQual accreditation, which is awarded by the International Tourism Organisation.
Tourism is a highly creative industry, involving and intertwining transport, sport, culture, and the arts, and offering exceptional opportunities for career growth and development. Studying Tourism will enable you to pursue a further entrepreneurial path, as most companies in tourism are small and medium-sized enterprises or provide a career in larger domestic and foreign companies in the hotel, catering, travel agency, tourist attraction operator, airline, or destination management organisations.
If you love travelling, experiencing new cultures, working with people and a dynamic and fast-paced environment, Tourism is the right choice for you! Upon completion of the programme, you will understand the tourism ecosystem, be equipped with knowledge in the areas of tourism business operations, tourism product development, the functioning of non-governmental sectors, the integration of innovation into tourism business models, ensuring sustainable transformation at both the company and destination level, and understanding digitisation and the implementation of digital solutions in the business operations of companies and destinations.
Remember that tourism is one of the fastest growing industries, accounting for one tenth of global GDP, with wide-ranging social, cultural, and environmental benefits. This Sustainable Tourism Management degree will help you develop your critical thinking, research skills, ability to adapt to new trends, and engender responsibility for a better economic, social, and environmental future.
